Zé Roberto Teixeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Monty Rogers in the 17th minute of the match. Cassius Byrne spun around in front of the goal 19 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Playa Malvín's goal. In the 25th minute of the match, Monty Rogers tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Zé Roberto Teixeira saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 26th minute Stamen Tekeliev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zé Roberto Teixeira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After 29 minutes of play, Playa Malvín's Stamen Tekeliev made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marco Day was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 33rd minute Stamen Tekeliev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zach Harrison in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zé Roberto Teixeira saved Playa Malvín from getting behind. If Stamen Tekeliev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After the first half Playa Malvín were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

50 minutes into the match, Stamen Tekeliev had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marco Day. USA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stamen Tekeliev was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Stamen Tekeliev struck a weak shot in the 55th minute.
