Alberto Tafalla took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nick Pope. Nick Pope dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Johan Johansson tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Porto in the 47th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nick Pope was a little too slow when Facundo Cadaval got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 52nd minute. The score was now 0-2. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardo Caballero in the 56th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with Nick Pope in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Bajen's Bernardo Caballero in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mexico's goalie prevented a goal. The Mexico supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mexico would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
