After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 7th minute. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Bernardo Caballero sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Bernardo Caballero's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Bajen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johan Johansson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nick Pope saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Johan Johanssons short, quick shot in the 19thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Thanks to some nice moves Johan Johansson could shoot a difficult shot in the 20th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. Nick Pope came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Agustín Saelices. But to his dismay, Agustín Saelices quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The Bajen fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when Bajen's Bernardo Caballero looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Nick Pope took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sidney Porto showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 34 minute of play. Nick Pope showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Bajen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fazıl Hüsnü Toygun didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sidney Porto made a kick off. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Porto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 52 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Johan Johansson who took care of the corner kick. Nick Pope made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 54th minute. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Nick Pope firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 58th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Bajen's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. At last the ball reached Daniel Zorita at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Bajen. 2-2. In the 62nd minute, Bernardo Caballero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Daniel Zorita kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Bajen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelino Atauri didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute, Sidney Porto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bajen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Bajen's supporters rose to their feet, but Rolf Henriksson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 89 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nick Pope made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-3. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcus Norberg during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 94th match minute, Bajen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcus Norberg to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Nick Pope to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Bajen were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
