Colombia's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. With a little luck, Colombia's Pedro Manzanares got control of the ball when Erubiel Urtats tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clemente Cordera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Colombia from getting a goal against them. Axel Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Hugo Orlando Gatti didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Colombia. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
