Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 何珂斌 in the 8th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eliseo Noboa during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The crowd rose to their feet as Costa Rica's Axel Tasis slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of 罗军挺. That made the score 1-0 after 15 minutes of play. In the 18th minute, Alexander Carballo had to leave the field with a concussion. When 何珂斌 fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored yangyong's protests and gave 何珂斌 a yellow card for diving instead. Costa Rica made a substitution. Alex Casaus replaced Alexander Carballo. After 20 played minutes yangyong got a freekick which was hit by 何珂斌. Eliseo Noboa struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. 罗军挺 didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. 何珂斌 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 何珂斌 in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. 何珂斌 got in the 34th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Benito Sanz handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 34 minutes, 何珂斌 put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Benito Sanz. 罗军挺 made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Aaron Alcocer sent off a good shot on target. yangyong's 罗军挺 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 43rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, yangyong's 范朋骋 got a free kick in the 44th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. 何珂斌 was the one to do the kick off. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 何珂斌, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 罗军挺 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Tasis, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lautaro Puig in the 59th minute of play forced yangyong's goalkeeper 罗军挺 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when 何珂斌 got free with Benito Sanz in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 67th minute, 孔翔 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz was a little too slow when 何珂斌 got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 72nd minute. The score was now 1-2. 罗军挺 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Tasis in the 75th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when 何珂斌 got free with Benito Sanz in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If 赵辉扬 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 赵辉扬, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 罗军挺 came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa. But to his dismay, Eliseo Noboa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. In the 94th minute, 范朋骋 got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
