The throw-in from Abel Carballo in the 10th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's Eugen Popeneciu. Efrain Moruga hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Lautaro Puig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Șerban Finteșteanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eliseo Noboa took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Șerban Finteșteanu. Șerban Finteșteanu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Sandu Paraschivescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 29th minute of play forced C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's goalkeeper Șerban Finteșteanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's Valeriu Donecea managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Abel Carballo in the 32 minute of the game. Eliseo Noboa kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Benito Sanz was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Ciprian Boșneag. When Eugen Popeneciu fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's protests and gave Eugen Popeneciu a yellow card for diving instead. Eugen Popeneciu kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis tried to score from far away in the 39th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A sloppy throw-in by Efrain Moruga in the 57th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's Valeriu Donecea. C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's Nicolae Niculcea quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Juan Rubio, made in the 62nd minute of the game. Nicolae Niculcea blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. If Sandu Paraschivescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Șerban Finteșteanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aaron Alcocer, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. If Axel Tasis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lautaro Puig scored 0-3 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Șerban Finteșteanu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 73rd minute of the game Edgar Gurlui made a throw-in which Valeriu Donecea played forward. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eliseo Noboa during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 75th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sandu Paraschivescu in the 93rd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
