Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Skrajojantys Olandai's Lev Tolstoy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 40th minute of play. In the 42nd minute, Siemen Vitus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tom Beugelsdijk kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After the first half Mexico were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Siemen Vitus was the one to do the kick off.
