Amado Muc might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Amado Muc ran back to his position shaking his head. After 89 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. Amado Muc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 96 minutes into the game, Reynaldo Alonso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Inter Miami CF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After 96 played minutes Inter Miami CF got a freekick which was hit by Reynaldo Alonso. The Inter Miami CF fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
