Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Gabriel Sayveon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Los Linyeras the free kick. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. During this time Los Linyeras's players had a chance to rest. Los Linyeras's Agustin Donio was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
