Pascual Buinton who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 38thth minute tested the skills of Jonathan Ferrant when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Vlatko Bošković took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Walter Ehrler had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Walter Ehrler was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Rigoberto Mina lost his temper 57 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Venezuela fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 56th minute. Penalty! Venezuela:s Jonathan Ferrant showed great skill when he stopped Iker Hats:s penalty.
