Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Roja Directa's Rogelio Aimar started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gregorio Lico, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. In the 3rd play minute Gregorio Lico came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Julio Vera. 1-0. Rogelio Aimar came free with the goalkeeper in the 9th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. Baltasar Lastur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rogelio Aimar got free with Julio Vera in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zoltan Strickler kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the match, Roja Directa's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Baltasar Lastur reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera was a little too slow when Gregorio Lico got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 23rd minute. The score was now 2-0. Baltasar Lastur made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Rogelio Aimar notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luis Andino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 45 minutes in the game Primitivo Andino did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Daniel Zorita. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rogelio Aimar got free with Julio Vera in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Rogelio Aimar hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Roja Directa's Rogelio Aimar got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 67thth minute tested the skills of Baltasar Lastur when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Baltasar Lastur in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Baltasar Lastur firmly grabbed it by the left post. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Roja Directa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeremias Amaya didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Roja Directa getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Jeremias Amaya hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvano Cutberto during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Roja Directa's Silvano Cutberto got a free kick in the 75th minute. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 79thth minute tested the skills of Baltasar Lastur when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Roja Directa's defense didn't have a chance, in the 82nd minute, when Daniel Zorita scored to the left of an out of position Baltasar Lastur, making the score, 3-1. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arturo Loramendi in the 85th minute of play. Camilo Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. In the 89th minute, Silvano Cutberto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 97 minutes into the match, Roja Directa's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Baltasar Lastur reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
