The supporters of Fc Benefica booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Tamayo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fc Benefica's Jens van Basten got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 16 minutes into the match, Fc Benefica's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Mitchel Dijkstra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mitchel Dijkstra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Fc Benefica's goalkeeper Mitchel Dijkstra had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Carballar. Mitchel Dijkstra made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. Fc Benefica's Mitchel Dijkstra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 29th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, Fc Benefica's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Mitchel Dijkstra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Fc Benefica's Damien Bakker got a free kick in the 39th minute. Eduard Gryshko made in the 46th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Chile's Felix Garrido. After the first half Fc Benefica were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 54th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mitchel Dijkstra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 55 minutes into the game, Felix Garrido was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Chile's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fc Benefica the free kick. Felix Garrido hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Leandro Soares received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Thiago Pliego came out and tried to block the shot, but Leandro Soares slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 59th minute. In the 62nd minute Orlando Casaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mitchel Dijkstra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 67 played minutes Fc Benefica got a freekick which was hit by Ture Asklöv. Felix Garrido got his second yellow card in the match during the 70th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 70 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Felix Garrido. Thiago Pliego didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leandro Soares went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Guillermo Fontirroig scored 1-3 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mitchel Dijkstra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Chile's attentive Mariano Lacasa managed to snatch the ball when Eduard Gryshko made a throw-in in the 90th minute of the game. In the 90th match minute, Fc Benefica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jens van Basten to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Fc Benefica's Eduard Gryshko got a free kick in the 94th minute. Mitchel Dijkstra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Casaus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Although Chile had been in control for most of the match, Fc Benefica still came away with the win.
