Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornel Gorjanu in the 15th minute of the match. The supporters of ACS Echipa Ursilor Brasov booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dudu Georgescu in the 19th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucian Cangeopol in the 25th minute of play. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucian Cangeopol in the 47th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. Basarab Nuțu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Puig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
