After 12 minutes, Nilton de Godoi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Capixaba and the Curacao players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mete Gol in the 47th minute of play forced Curacao's goalkeeper Bruno Barrett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

With a little luck, Curacao's Bruno Barrett got control of the ball when Mete Gol tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Lochlan Newman came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Curacao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lochlan Newman couldn't finish the play. A sloppy throw-in by Bertie Johnson in the 60th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Atlético Capixaba's Nilton de Godoi. Patrick Teles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kyle Davies in the 64th minute of play. If Acácio Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stanley Wallace sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Atlético Capixaba's Patrick Teles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stanley Wallace in the 71st minute of play. The supporters of Atlético Capixaba booed when Curacao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kyle Davies didn't get a good kick on the ball. Atlético Capixaba's attentive Dagoberto Loureiro managed to snatch the ball when Jordan Porter made a throw-in in the 81st minute of the game. The referee felt a red card was in order, 83 minutes into the game, when Romeu Diniz put in a rough tackle. Rocco Owen kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. In the 91st minute Jano Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Barrett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marshall Graham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Atlético Capixaba players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Curacao.
