Rolando Noboa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. If Luz Tejedor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. 89 minutes had been played when some careless play by Dionisia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Eliseo Mina was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Rafael Gallo heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rafael Gallo in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Serafim Eanes saved Dionisia from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Peru had won after a very even match.
