A very good chance. 9 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benedito Trigo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Yu Yang Sang was the one to do the kick off. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Éder Madureira in the 51st minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Yu Yang Sang came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th match minute, Sagarana Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Roberto da Costa to maneuver through the defense. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedito Trigo having to interfere. Fábio da Cunha's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. With a little luck, Sagarana Clube's Benedito Trigo got control of the ball when Felix Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fábio da Cunha in the 83rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Fábio da Cunha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. In the 91st minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Sagarana Clube's Benedito Trigo got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Yu Yang Sang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
