With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlinhos da Costa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 12 minutes into the game, Mario Fernandino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Carlinhos da Costa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benito Madrid kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. 24 minutes into the game, Alfredo Ferrant cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Carlinhos da Costa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 36th match minute, E.C 2 Janeiro RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo Pontes to maneuver through the defense. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's Carlinhos da Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Ferrant in the 41st minute of play. Carlinhos da Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduardo Fontirroig in the 42nd minute of play. In the 43rd minute, Eduardo Fontirroig left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bolivia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. After 46 played minutes Bolivia got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Fontirroig. After the first half Bolivia were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marco Valadares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Mario Fernandino had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlinhos da Costa. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mario Fernandino was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. In the 56th minute Eduardo Fontirroig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlinhos da Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 63 minutes into the game, Haroldo Sanches cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Camilo Freixa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Mario Fernandino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bolivia's supporters rose to their feet, but Mario Fernandino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlinhos da Costa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in E.C 2 Janeiro RS's zone, Mario Fernandino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlinhos da Costa came out of the goal and Mario Fernandino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mario Fernandino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Bolivia eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
