If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita scored 0-1 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Garry Vercauteren, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Garry Vercauteren stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. In the 28th match minute, Brighton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by SK Sum to maneuver through the defense. Garry Vercauteren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of play forced Brighton's goalkeeper Garry Vercauteren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Garry Vercauteren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of the match. The wind increased when Alan Gorria made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Alan Gorria got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Brighton's Alan Gorria got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Garry Vercauteren made a huge save. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alan Gorria in the 60th minute of the match. A collision led to Brighton getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. SK Sum hit a great ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garry Vercauteren having to interfere. Alfred Hitchcock's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. 82 minutes had been played when some careless play by Brighton's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Garry Vercauteren in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garry Vercauteren having to interfere. Garry Vercauteren made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
