Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Tomas Illescas kicked off to start the match. Alfred Hitchcock fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alan Gorria in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alan Gorria in the 16th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garry Vercauteren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Alan Gorria managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brighton's supporters rose to their feet, but Alan Gorria was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With an all-out effort, Brighton's Jonathan Ferrant threw himself towards the right post 25 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alan Gorria, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 27th minute of play forced Brighton's goalkeeper Garry Vercauteren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29thth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Brighton's Garry Vercauteren was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Garry Vercauteren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alan Gorria could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Garry Vercauteren didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Amir Chandran hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. When Venezuela's Tomas Illescas in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Brighton's goalie prevented a goal. Patricio Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Alan Gorria made the kick off in the second half. Alfred Hitchcock took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Brighton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amir Chandran didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th minute Alfred Hitchcock shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alan Gorria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Alan Gorria blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Alfred Hitchcock kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. In the 71st minute of the match Marcelino Xacintu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant skillfully saved the ball. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Garry Vercauteren having to make a save. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alan Gorria in the 77th minute of play. Muhammad Kang kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. 86 minutes into the game, Amir Chandran was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Brighton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. The goalkeeper, Garry Vercauteren, was totally fooled by Venezuela's Tomas Illescas, who 87 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alan Gorria, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Garry Vercauteren stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alan Gorria in the 94th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alan Gorria in the 98th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Brighton had played much better football throughout.
