In the 84th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clark Kent saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zenaido Oviedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zenaido Oviedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 98th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clark Kent saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chants of Zorros del Desierto echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Ecuador had held the ball for most of the match.
