Tiago Godoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to São Paulo F.C. getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Buba Seco hit a great ball. The supporters of Mexico booed when São Paulo F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovani Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tiago Godoi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. São Paulo F.C.'s Tiago Godoi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 16th minute of play. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 17th minute after São Paulo F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Tiago Godoi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. 23 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of São Paulo F.C.'s Tiago Godoi. Tiago Godoi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yaya Sow in the 26th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tiago Godoi. São Paulo F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joel Gaona was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After 33 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Luca Rouco. When Attila Keserű came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the São Paulo F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Attila Keserű couldn't finish the play. Tiago Godoi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Tiago Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 36th minute of play. Yago Leite charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Yago Leite the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Yago Leite hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luca Zorita in the 41st minute of play forced São Paulo F.C.'s goalkeeper Tiago Godoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute, Luca Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. In the 46thth minute of the game Wanderson Melo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Dante Lacasa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The São Paulo F.C. players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mexico were winning 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. After 51 minutes of play, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tiago Godoi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vito Travassos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Dante Lacasa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wanderson Melo in the 56th minute of the match. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiago Godoi having to interfere. São Paulo F.C.'s Dirk Snabl was substituted for Buba Seco. Alberto Tafalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 64 minutes into the match, São Paulo F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Luca Zorita came free, but Tiago Godoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joel Gaona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tiago Godoi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. When Lautaro Mancebo came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. In the 68th match minute, São Paulo F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yago Leite to maneuver through the defense. Yaya Sow kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Luca Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tiago Godoi having to make a save. Lautaro Mancebo came free with the goalkeeper in the 79th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Tiago Godoi could save by the left post. After some careless play in the São Paulo F.C. defense, Joel Gaona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tiago Godoi. The São Paulo F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tiago Godoi should have stopped the shot. Alberto Tafalla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Tiago Godoi made a huge save. The supporters of Mexico booed when São Paulo F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorian Quadros didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Facundo Cadaval managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Facundo Cadaval was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tiago Godoi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Mexico left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than São Paulo F.C..
