When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Roman Lluciano put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 12th minute of play forced NovaStella FK's goalkeeper Viktor Häll to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Inocencio Lorien got free with Julio Vera in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 46th minute of play forced NovaStella FK's goalkeeper Viktor Häll to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Viktor Häll in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Viktor Häll made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 62nd minute. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Roman Lluciano put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. NovaStella FK made a substitution. Kristoffer Ek replaced Roman Lluciano. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Daniel Zorita hit a great ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kristoffer Ek, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After 79 minutes, Inocencio Lorien made it 3-2 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.
