Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Branislav Velchevski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. 18 minutes into the match, Mexico's Luca Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Branislav Velchevski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 29th minute Arnaldo Gabon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Arnaldo Gabon. But to his dismay, Arnaldo Gabon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 33 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Elpidio Francis came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Macos Graciani got a free kick in the 36th minute. Arnaldo Gabon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luca Rouco kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Dante Lacasa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Elpidio Francis went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Elpidio Francis to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Branislav Velchevski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Francis in the 64th minute of play. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Aristides Asteri was substituted for Arnaldo Gabon. Macos Graciani got a throw-in 67 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Joel Gaona. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Monclús in the 72nd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Gaona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Branislav Velchevski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Branislav Velchevski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 77th match minute, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esteban Iztal to maneuver through the defense. 78 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Luca Zorita came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. But to his dismay, Alberto Tafalla quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 91st minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Branislav Velchevski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Mexico manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA to win.
