In the 7th minute, Breguete FC's Eugênio de Carvalho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Ferrant. Jailson Soares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benê Fernandez in the 19th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. It was a well-played corner which Attila Iványi managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jailson Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Diguinho Dias hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eugênio de Carvalho to make the kick off. When Breguete FC's Eugênio de Carvalho in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
