The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Efrain Moruga during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Efrain Moruga got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jaroslav Nechvátal to strike the kick off in the second half. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaroslav Nechvátal in the 80th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaroslav Nechvátal in the 87th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Efrain Moruga in the 88th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Club A. Chipa y Tereré's Christian Evarado. Club A. Chipa y Tereré's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
