In the 10th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Yalapa's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. When Ecuador's Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Yalapa's goalie prevented a goal. When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Daniel Zorita sped through Yalapa's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Basri İhtiyar. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Basri İhtiyar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuel Tome in the 32nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leonardo Nogueira in the 38th minute. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. The corner led Yalapa's Leonardo Nogueira to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Yalapa's Fermin Dolfo was substituted for Leonardo Nogueira. A collision led to Yalapa getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Olaf Gall hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fermin Dolfo to make the kick off. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Yalapa's Fermin Dolfo. But to his dismay, Fermin Dolfo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Yalapa's Basri İhtiyar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Yalapa from getting a goal against them. Yalapa's Eustaquio Ramond was substituted for Samuel Tome. In the 69th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. In the 72nd minute, Tore-Andre Flø left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Yalapa fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olaf Gall in the 76th minute of the match. In the 81stth minute of the game Fermin Dolfo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Yalapa's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Basri İhtiyar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 86th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Basri İhtiyar was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. Felix Montes kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Yalapa's Diego Armando Junior got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olaf Gall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fermin Dolfo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Yalapa players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
