The audience thought a goal was coming when Fred Ferreira got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fred Ferreira came free with the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jonathan Ferrant could save by the left post. 26 minutes into the match, Corumbaense F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Luís Eduardo dos Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Corumbaense F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rayan Rodrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Fred Ferreira tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Corumbaense F.C.'s Vânderson Camargo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 45th minute of the game. One of Venezuela:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Corumbaense F.C.:s goal. In the 47th minute there was a penalty for Corumbaense F.C.. Dieguinho Neiva stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. 2-0.

The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Fred Ferreira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Ferreira in the 80th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
