The referee showed Luis Andino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Luis Andino got a free kick in the 19th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Carmelo Osmundo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Academia Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Carmelo Osmundo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hernan Ellande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hernan Ellande was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Academia Club's Hernan Ellande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Academia Club's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Hernan Ellande reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cahit Eker in the 41st minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Cahit Eker notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cahit Eker was the one to do the kick off. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of Hernan Ellande when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. 54 minutes into the game, Angel Urtsin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Academia Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. A collision led to Academia Club getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Angel Urtsin hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Academia Club's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hernan Ellande came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Academia Club's Hernan Ellande got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 64th minute of play forced Academia Club's goalkeeper Hernan Ellande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Hernan Ellande threw himself towards the right post 67 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cristian Sancho, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 70th minute of play forced Academia Club's goalkeeper Hernan Ellande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Academia Club's Yuan Jian got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 79 minutes into the match, Cahit Eker had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cahit Eker was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Hernan Ellande made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Luis Andino got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Felix Montenegro's late challenge caught a Academia Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Montenegro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 96th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montenegro to maneuver through the defense. After 97 played minutes Academia Club got a freekick which was hit by Julio-César Dely Valdés. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Academia Club were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
