Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ramiro Liberto's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. 82 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ramiro Liberto came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
