No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Salbatore Adelsdorfer came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patricio Costa during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Salbatore Adelsdorfer in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 72nd minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. Deportivo Lirayén's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomas Illescas ran over to the corner to take the kick. Rigoberto Mina was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulino Naranjo in the 85th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 87th minute Deportivo Lirayén were awarded a corner. Ezmundo Osorio went to the cornerflag to take it. After 90 minutes of play, Deportivo Lirayén's Shen Chen Xi made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romano Bautista in the 94th minute of play. Deportivo Lirayén walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
