In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Expreso del oeste's goalkeeper Hernan Fernanco, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thiago Pliego was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Honorio Mikeldi showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 18 minute of play. Jason Ghost made a great header on Expreso del oeste's corner, it was just that Chile's Thiago Pliego managed to reach the ball for a save. After a defensive mix-up in Expreso del oeste's zone, Orlando Casaus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thiago Pliego breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
