Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 8thth minute tested the skills of Marcelo Quexada when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to EBK getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Ştefan Pantea hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flavio Colon in the 11th minute of play. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, EBK's Marcelo Quexada got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 15 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cornelio Omero, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Marcelo Quexada didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Marcelo Quexada was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tomas Illescas showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 21 minute of play. After some careless play in the EBK defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcelo Quexada. The EBK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcelo Quexada should have stopped the shot. In the 32nd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. Venezuela were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after EBK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tomas Illescas took the corner. Cornelio Omero took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcelo Quexada read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Eusko Zubicoeta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Marcelo Quexada tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 57th minute of play forced EBK's goalkeeper Marcelo Quexada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Cornelio Omero sent off a good shot on target. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ştefan Pantea in the 63rd minute of play. 65 minutes into the match, EBK's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Marcelo Quexada reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as EBK's Flavio Colon slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 2-2 after 66 minutes of play. Marcelo Quexada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 69th minute of play. Flavio Colon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Quexada having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Eusko Zubicoeta showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-3 in the 82 minute of play. In the 86th match minute, EBK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albino Mirande to maneuver through the defense.
