After a defensive mix-up in ΚΛΚΞRΘS ᴾᴵᴬᴿᴬ's zone, Orlando Casaus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pablo Maggio came out of the goal and Orlando Casaus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mariano Lacasa struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Pablo Maggio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chile. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Chile's Gerardo Pozo got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind ΚΛΚΞRΘS ᴾᴵᴬᴿᴬ's goalkeeper Pablo Maggio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 25 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pablo Maggio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jose Manzanedo kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. But to his dismay, Mariano Lacasa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-5. Tomas Demario scored 3-5 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Thiago Pliego, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 97th minute Tomas Demario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Chile supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Chile would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
