Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Xacintu Ribeiro in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 12 minutes into the match, Atlético Bucaramanga's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Patrik Øskan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Atlético Bucaramanga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hernando Harroyo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 30th match minute, Atlético Bucaramanga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Shawn Michaels to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Xacintu Ribeiro made a kick off. 51 minutes in the game Primitivo Andino did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Felix Montenegro. Atlético Bucaramanga's Sotero Abrea quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Primitivo Andino, made in the 54th minute of the game. In the 56th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Atlético Bucaramanga's Jerson Gonzales was substituted for Yulian Tzambov. The audience was convinced that Xacintu Ribeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Sotero Abrea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xacintu Ribeiro in the 71st minute of play. Patrik Øskan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 77th minute. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Daniel Zorita took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Patrik Øskan to make any attempt to save it. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético Bucaramanga's goalkeeper Patrik Øskan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Zorita kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Patrik Øskan. That made the score 1-5 in the 94 minute of play. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
