In the 4th minute, Mariano Lacasa made a precise shot to the right of Sebastian Hellkvist. Inter de Guayaquil FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Thiago Pliego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jakub Ziombkowski's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. A collision led to Inter de Guayaquil FC getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Xavier Zanetti hit a great ball. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Éric Cantona in the 11th minute of the match. Thiago Pliego came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Inter de Guayaquil FC's Éric Cantona. But to his dismay, Éric Cantona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Sebastian Hellkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 20th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, Mariano Lacasa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Sebastian Hellkvist was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Éric Cantona in the 28th minute of play. Thiago Pliego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Éric Cantona's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. Sebastian Hellkvist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 36th minute. When Inter de Guayaquil FC's Éric Cantona in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chile's goalie prevented a goal. 41 minutes into the match, Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Hellkvist had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mariano Lacasa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Casaus in the 42nd minute of play forced Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Hellkvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Jakub Ziombkowski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Pliego was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. Inter de Guayaquil FC made a substitution. Jörn Svartengren replaced Jakub Ziombkowski. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Zé Pedro Baptista was substituted for Humberto Barragan. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mariano Lacasa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes of play, Chile's Mariano Lacasa made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sebastian Hellkvist was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sebastian Hellkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 60th minute of the match. In the 64th minute, Mariano Lacasa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Jörn Svartengren kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Thiago Pliego. That made the score 3-2 in the 67 minute of play. With his leg Thiago Pliego managed to avoid a goal in the 70thth minute, when Inter de Guayaquil FC's Jörn Svartengren fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thiago Pliego made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jörn Svartengren in the 72nd minute. The supporters of Chile booed when Inter de Guayaquil FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hector Andriesens didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 79th minute, Mateusz Giertych hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Chile's Thiago Pliego got control of the ball when Jörn Svartengren tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jörn Svartengren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thiago Pliego read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. In the 90thth minute of the game Mariano Lacasa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Inter de Guayaquil FC's Sebastian Hellkvist was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 91st minute, Orlando Casaus ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sebastian Hellkvist was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. Thiago Pliego made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jörn Svartengren in the 97th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Inter de Guayaquil FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Chile.
