In the 26th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 36 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Juan-Carlos Gonzalo. Daniel Zorita showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Bucaramanga's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juan-Carlos Gonzalo came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ellande Aguinagalde charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ellande Aguinagalde the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Atlético Bucaramanga getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Ellande Aguinagalde hit a great ball. In the 46th minute Elixio Garros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lugo Saavedra to strike the kick off in the second half. When Elixio Garros fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético Bucaramanga's protests and gave Elixio Garros a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Atlético Bucaramanga getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Elixio Garros hit a great ball. Juan-Carlos Gonzalo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 54th minute. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Juan-Carlos Gonzalo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Juan-Carlos Gonzalo came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. 66 minutes into the match, Atlético Bucaramanga's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Juan-Carlos Gonzalo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Juan-Carlos Gonzalo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. 85 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Atlético Bucaramanga's Juan-Carlos Gonzalo. Juan-Carlos Gonzalo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Juan-Carlos Gonzalo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Atlético Bucaramanga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Weterio Caceo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Atlético Bucaramanga's Juan-Carlos Gonzalo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 95th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Ecuador players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
