The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Stefan Pierson struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brannik. 9 minutes into the game, Alan Moruga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brannik the free kick. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alan Moruga got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 11th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Rubio to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 13 minutes, İslam Hirfanlı managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brannik's supporters crossed their fingers, but İslam Hirfanlı was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from İslam Hirfanlı went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 20th minute Stefan Pierson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Brannik booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. İslam Hirfanlı fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. 27 minutes into the match, Brannik's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Byron Tanner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. İslam Hirfanlı let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 28th minute shot 2-0 at rihgt post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stefan Pierson got free with Benito Sanz in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 39th minute, Brannik's Domenico Knutson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. Byron Tanner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Puig in the 43rd minute of play. If İslam Hirfanlı had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for İslam Hirfanlı to strike the kick off in the second half. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from İslam Hirfanlı, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Eliseo Noboa was extremely unlucky when he, in the 63rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from İslam Hirfanlı went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. The supporters of Brannik booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Axel Tasis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eliseo Noboa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stefan Pierson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Brannik was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moises Ponce didn't get a good kick on the ball. 81 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Byron Tanner was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aaron Alcocer kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. 89 minutes into the match, Stefan Pierson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stefan Pierson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, İslam Hirfanlı stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and İslam Hirfanlı tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 94th minute.
