Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Peru's Julian Murillo in the 7th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Ali Vedat Çelikyay was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Union Y Progreso F.C. through an amazing save. Pan Zheng Li struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Rolando Noboa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Union Y Progreso F.C.. Through an outstanding action, after 11 minutes, Ali Vedat Çelikyay successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Fabio Cordarell, 13 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Sueiro in the 17th minute of play. In the 19th minute Santiago Meruendano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Union Y Progreso F.C.'s manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After 37 minutes Union Y Progreso F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Luz Tejedor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Ali Vedat Çelikyay did a great save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zeng Ting Xing stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57thth minute of the game Julian Murillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Ali Vedat Çelikyay was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Costante Segarra got free with Rolando Noboa in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The corner led Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Fabio Cordarell to fire away a dangerous shot which Rolando Noboa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santiago Meruendano in the 64th minute of the match. Emmanuel Reyes made in the 71st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Milagros Fraga immediately put the ball in play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Milagros Fraga in the 72nd minute of play forced Union Y Progreso F.C.'s goalkeeper Ali Vedat Çelikyay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ali Vedat Çelikyay didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Milagros Fraga went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After having played for 79 minutes, Eliseo Mina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Mina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Olle Melander could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. 93 minutes into the game, Peru's Rafael Gallo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ali Vedat Çelikyay made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Union Y Progreso F.C. players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Peru.
