Dalmo Saldanha made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Luz Tejedor sent off a good shot on target. In the 6th minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Laerte Bittencourt made a throw-in in the 13th minute of the game. A collision led to Jovens Democratas MZC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Dominik Szoboszlai hit a great ball. Dalmo Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 15th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Laerte Bittencourt in the 16th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Alonso Berganza. 17 minutes into the match, Jovens Democratas MZC's goalkeeper Dalmo Saldanha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julian Murillo. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julian Murillo in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dalmo Saldanha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 24 minutes, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Julian Murillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dalmo Saldanha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Dalmo Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 30th minute of play. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruy de Brito in the 35th minute of play. The supporters of Peru booed when Jovens Democratas MZC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonardo Guerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Jovens Democratas MZC's Dalmo Saldanha got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jovens Democratas MZC's goalkeeper Dalmo Saldanha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dalmo Saldanha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julian Murillo in the 45th minute. In the 46th minute, Leonardo Guerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 48 minutes into the game, Luz Tejedor recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dalmo Saldanha. Luz Tejedor showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Julian Murillo made a kick off. In the 55th minute, Peru's Efraim Gilabert seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Efraim Gilabert the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Peru protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Efraim Gilabert had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After a rather tough play, Peru's Efraim Gilabert got a free kick in the 56th minute. The supporters of Peru booed when Jovens Democratas MZC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laerte Bittencourt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luz Tejedor struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Dalmo Saldanha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. An unexpectedly hard shot by Milagros Fraga in the 63rd minute of play forced Jovens Democratas MZC's goalkeeper Dalmo Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Jovens Democratas MZC defense, Milagros Fraga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dalmo Saldanha. The Jovens Democratas MZC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dalmo Saldanha should have stopped the shot. Chico de Sousas short, quick shot in the 71stth minute got Rolando Noboa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jovens Democratas MZC made a substitution. Jozef Ilve replaced David Puyol. Jozef Ilve made in the 74th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Chico de Sousa immediately put the ball in play. A hard shot 81 in the game by Marco van Basten from a close distance when the talented Rolando Noboa managed to make a qualified save. Peru's players were relieved. In the 85th match minute, Jovens Democratas MZC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jozef Ilve to maneuver through the defense. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Jovens Democratas MZC's Lúcio Cruz was substituted for Dobromir Zagrodny. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. In the 92nd minute Antonio Tenorio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dalmo Saldanha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peru were awarded a corner in the 93th minute after Jovens Democratas MZC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Eliseo Mina took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Milagros Fraga managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. There was no doubt that Peru were the better team. Peru's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
