Monty Rogers received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Christopher Reimann came out and tried to block the shot, but Monty Rogers slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 8th minute. In the 16th minute Monty Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christopher Reimann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christopher Reimann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cassius Byrne in the 19th minute. Christopher Reimann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Rogers in the 21st minute of play. 29 minutes into the match, PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goalkeeper Christopher Reimann had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cassius Byrne. Marco Day took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo Zalayeta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 31 minutes, Marcelo Zalayeta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON and the USA players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Marcelo Zalayeta hit a great ball. In the 33rd minute, Cassius Byrne made a precise shot to the right of Christopher Reimann. PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Millrick Portanares kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Cassius Byrne made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON were awarded a corner. Millrick Portanares went to the cornerflag to take it. Christopher Reimann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cassius Byrne in the 56th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, USA's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelo Zalayeta came free, but Marco Day reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON fans' excitement grew in the 58th match minute when PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's Agustín Alvarez looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 61 minutes into the match, USA's goalkeeper Marco Day had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcelo Zalayeta. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cassius Byrne in the 72nd minute of play forced PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goalkeeper Christopher Reimann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's Rogelio Cosca was substituted for Usain Bolt. USA's Sam Campbell was substituted for Cassius Byrne. In the 74th minute USA were awarded a corner. Monty Rogers went to the cornerflag to take it. USA's Zach Harrison was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Christopher Reimann in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some careless play in the PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON defense, Sam Campbell kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christopher Reimann. The PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christopher Reimann should have stopped the shot. USA's Khalid Parry was substituted for Monty Rogers. 81 minutes into the match, PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goal looked a bit too open when Sam Campbell came free, but Christopher Reimann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. USA were awarded a corner in the 82th minute after PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jenson Smith took the corner. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sam Campbell in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Christopher Reimann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 88 minutes into the match, PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goal looked a bit too open when Sam Campbell came free, but Christopher Reimann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Khalid Parry in the 92nd minute of play forced PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goalkeeper Christopher Reimann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. USA fully deserved thier win.
