Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Edmund Piczak firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Edmund Piczak threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luis Andino, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmund Piczak having to interfere. 22 minutes into the match, Centenario City FC's Alessio Punta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmund Piczak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frasco Ferreira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. In the 59th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. Eztebe Cortinas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
