The supporters of Breguete FC booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Axel Tasis didn't get a good kick on the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Adriano Leite came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Adriano Leite notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Lautaro Puig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Júlio Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15th match minute, Breguete FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robinho Leal to maneuver through the defense. Norberto Massa kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Axel Tasis struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Júlio Soares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. 22 minutes into the match, Breguete FC's goalkeeper Júlio Soares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Axel Tasis. 23 minutes into the game, Armandinho Nascimento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Breguete FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Gustavo Sanches, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Alan Moruga's late challenge caught a Breguete FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alan Moruga helped the player get up and apologised. Juan Rubio hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. If Adriano Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Efrain Moruga hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 52nd minute, José Augusto Santos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 60th minute, Breguete FC's Luiz Gustavo Sanches ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. José Augusto Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 68th minute, Adriano Leite made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Lautaro Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. When Eliseo Noboa came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eliseo Noboa couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 80th minute. In the 86th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Costa Rica's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Axel Tasis in the 87th minute. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when José Augusto Santos sent off a good shot on target. When the match was over Breguete FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Costa Rica throughout the match.
