In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Kaviedes Arrese struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Diablos FC. In the 32nd minute of the match, Cristian Sancho got a very nice opportunity to score, but João Vítor de Amorim was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with João Vítor de Amorim in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. João Vítor de Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 40th minute Kaviedes Arrese shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Kaviedes Arrese had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Diablos FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
