Benito Sanz acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 7th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Maximilian Henning. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Ingmar Stempfle hit a great ball. When Lautaro Puig came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Puig couldn't finish the play. 13 minutes into the match, Rot-Weiss-Essen's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseo Noboa came free, but August Hoffmanns reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kryspin Banach to maneuver through the defense. 1-0 became the score in the 19th minute when Mesut Özil elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Juan Rubio charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Juan Rubio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Juan Rubio kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Benito Sanz acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 24th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Maximilian Henning. In the 25th minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Mesut Özil ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. The audience was convinced that Axel Tasis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but August Hoffmanns was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. If Axel Tasis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benito Sanz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Anestis Kotsopoulos showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 32 minute of play. After 36 played minutes Anestis Kotsopoulos rounded Costa Rica's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 4-0. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. August Hoffmanns tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Hugo Haupt made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mesut Özil in the 44th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz was out of position in the 45 minute of play, and Anestis Kotsopoulos capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Anestis Kotsopoulos really showed his touch with that goal: 6-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. Hugo Haupt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 55th minute of play forced Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper August Hoffmanns to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Hugo Haupt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rot-Weiss-Essen's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugo Haupt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anestis Kotsopoulos went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. 62 minutes into the game, Hugo Haupt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Alexander Carballo hit a great ball. When Abel Carballo fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Abel Carballo a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kryspin Banach in the 69th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Haupt in the 72nd minute of the match. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Rot-Weiss-Essen's Anestis Kotsopoulos. But to his dismay, Anestis Kotsopoulos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 9-0. After a defensive mix-up in Rot-Weiss-Essen's zone, Eliseo Noboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. August Hoffmanns came out of the goal and Eliseo Noboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anestis Kotsopoulos, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mesut Özil in the 95th minute of the match.
