A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Lorenzo Yepes hit a great ball. When Benedito Prata fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chaves do 8 FC's protests and gave Benedito Prata a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th minute, Benedito Prata hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Chaves do 8 FC's Júlio Varela got control of the ball when Moises Fernandino tried to sneak it across the goal line. Moises Fernandino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júlio Varela having to interfere. Olavo da Mata kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Fabricio Quiroga hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. The Chaves do 8 FC fans' excitement grew in the 38th match minute when Chaves do 8 FC's Pascual Bertin looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Percival Goiano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chaves do 8 FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Percival Goiano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Zorita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Moises Fernandino got free with Júlio Varela in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Chaves do 8 FC booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Fabricio Quiroga came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Chaves do 8 FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabricio Quiroga couldn't finish the play. After the first half Chaves do 8 FC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Valentino Ferrant lost his temper 60 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Fabricio Quiroga struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Ricardo Zorita didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chaves do 8 FC.
