If Ellis Hoskin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Uruguay from getting a goal against them. A sloppy throw-in by Roy Baba in the 9th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Uruguay's Camilo Covarrubias. In the 13th minute, Garth Brough ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 18th minute Australian Youth Academy were awarded a corner. Rufus Roach went to the cornerflag to take it. Garth Brough recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Garth Brough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. 24 minutes into the game, Garth Brough cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Joaquin Gayoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Australian Youth Academy booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Sainz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 28 minutes into the match, Australian Youth Academy's Garth Brough sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquin Gayoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Garth Brough got free with Joaquin Gayoso in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 36th minute, Garth Brough left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Australian Youth Academy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. In the 39th match minute, Australian Youth Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roy Baba to maneuver through the defense. Garth Brough struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Joaquin Gayoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Australian Youth Academy.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Garth Brough to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Australian Youth Academy's Garth Brough sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquin Gayoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Australian Youth Academy's attentive Rufus Roach managed to snatch the ball when Jorge Sainz made a throw-in in the 55th minute of the game. Boyd Allan kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Garth Brough in the 62nd minute of play. Rufus Roach hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Keylor Navas made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Francisco Seco sent off a good shot on target. After 64 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Sainz. The supporters of Australian Youth Academy booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Sainz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Garth Brough might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joaquin Gayoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Garth Brough ran back to his position shaking his head. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Garth Brough in the 69th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Francisco Seco could shoot a difficult shot in the 72nd minute, which Keylor Navas however easily saved by the left post. If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute, Maximiliano Escribano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Garth Brough, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 90 minutes in the game, Alberto Gisbert fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Keylor Navas having to interfere. Australian Youth Academy's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
