But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montenegro couldn't finish the play. Sport Club Mavericks's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 34th minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Amadeu Prado. Sport Club Mavericks's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. 38 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Amadeu Prado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Amadeu Prado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sport Club Mavericks made a substitution. José Carlos Mangueira replaced Zézinho Neto. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Davi Rossi to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pedro Augusto Marquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 69th minute of play forced Sport Club Mavericks's goalkeeper Amadeu Prado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 80 minutes, Amadeu Prado successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 81st minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Amadeu Prado was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-8. Mateus Novaes hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Sport Club Mavericks's Amadeu Prado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Sport Club Mavericks from getting a goal against them. 89 minutes into the match, Sport Club Mavericks's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Amadeu Prado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Amadeu Prado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Sport Club Mavericks was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Téo Guimarães didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 98th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-10. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
