Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Isidoro Beltran took the kick off in the first half of the match. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepe Santoro having to interfere. Pepe Santoro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Pepe Santoro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 11thth minute of the game Agustín Saelices who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independiente's Pepe Santoro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 13 minutes Independiente's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Isidoro Beltran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pepe Santoro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pepe Santoro made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Pepe Santoro in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Jorg Pieters's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Mateo Mendez's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mateo Mendez helped the player get up and apologised. Independiente's Serafín Berganza was substituted for Albano Bertol. Mateo Mendez hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Ecuador played a much better game than Independiente and deserved their victory. The Independiente players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
