After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Mariano Lacasa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chile's supporters rose to their feet, but Mariano Lacasa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Turgut Talha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 21 minutes into the game, Club Deportivo Español's Vacid Nefer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thiago Pliego made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. 23 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Español's Vacid Nefer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thiago Pliego narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Club Deportivo Español were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Chile's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Anthony Bonelli took the corner. Club Deportivo Español's Anthony Bonelli was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Thiago Pliego in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. With a little luck, Chile's Thiago Pliego got control of the ball when Vacid Nefer tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Chile's Jose Manzanedo got a free kick in the 29th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vacid Nefer in the 30th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Chile's Thiago Pliego got control of the ball when Vacid Nefer tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Chile's Jose Manzanedo got a free kick in the 34th minute. A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Jose Manzanedo hit a great ball. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vacid Nefer in the 37th minute of play. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vacid Nefer, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vacid Nefer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th minute, Pedro Indiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vacid Nefer to make the kick off. In the 55th minute Matias Chayo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vacid Nefer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thiago Pliego having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Vacid Nefer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Pliego was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. Club Deportivo Español's Turgut Talha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Club Deportivo Español from getting a goal against them. Club Deportivo Español's Jose Abar got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vacid Nefer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 85th minute Vítor Carioca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute, Orlando Casaus reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Turgut Talha. The goal made the score 2-1. If Vacid Nefer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chile's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Club Deportivo Español had won, even though Chile had held more of the ball.
