Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zarco Lameiras, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15thth minute of the game Vicente Maia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chile's Thiago Pliego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zarco Lameiras could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Thiago Pliego made a huge save. Chile's Thiago Pliego proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Chile from getting a goal against them. A hard shot 25 in the game by Vicente Maia from a close distance when the talented Thiago Pliego managed to make a qualified save. Chile's players were relieved. Mariano Lacasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ademar Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 26th minute of the match. With a little luck, Chile's Thiago Pliego got control of the ball when Vicente Maia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zarco Lameiras in the 34th minute of play. Ademar Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 39th minute of the match. 41 minutes into the game, one of Chile:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After 43 minutes Chile's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Manuel Lages who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Sporting Clube Patrício's Manuel Lages to fire away a dangerous shot which Thiago Pliego despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 45th minute Vicente Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Teodoro Onofre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Sporting Clube Patrício made a substitution. Nélson Portugal replaced Rubim Queirós. The wind increased when Mariano Lacasa made the kick off in the second half. The referee felt a red card was in order, 53 minutes into the game, when Mauro Alcântara put in a rough tackle. Ademar Azevedo was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Mariano Lacasa. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 79th minute Teodoro Onofre shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ademar Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 85th minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 87th minute of the game. One of Chile:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sporting Clube Patrício:s goal. The supporters of Sporting Clube Patrício booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Carballar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mariano Lacasa was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 94th minute. Chile's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With a little luck, Sporting Clube Patrício's Ademar Azevedo got control of the ball when Orlando Casaus tried to sneak it across the goal line.
